Design notes
Calm, like still water
Tyyni is Finnish for still, calm water, and the chair is drawn for that kind of evening. The seat is low and deep, the back leans at an easy angle, and the arms are wide enough to rest a cup on.
The frame is joined with mortise and tenon joints and glued, with no metal fittings to loosen. The back post runs in one line from the floor to the top of the backrest, which keeps the side view light.
The cushions sit loose on a webbed seat. Covers come off with a zip, and a new set can be ordered years later in the same fabric or a new one.
